Mario J. E. Wayne joined Hill Brewing Co. in 2004 as an owner and executive vice president of sales and marketing, utilizing his considerable consumer products sales and promotional talents. Wayne is responsible for the company’s strategic direction by defining sales objectives and growth targets. Wayne is the liaison between Hill Brewing Co. and the Anheuser-Busch distributors’ sales force. He provides training on the attributes of the Ray Hill's American Pilsner brand. Since joining Hill Brewing, Wayne has secured several major accounts and facilitated negotiations for lucrative contracts making significant contributions to the success of Hill Brewing Co. Wayne’s career in sales and marketing began with the St. Louis Rams professional football team. After one season in the sales and marketing department, Wayne was promoted to community relations coordinator where he spent six years as the Rams’ liaison to the St. Louis community. Wayne left the Rams and joined the National Football Players Association (NFLPA) in 2000. He served as a player marketing manager, responsible for mediating agreements between NFL Players and NFL Licensees. Wayne left the football arena to begin selling pharmaceuticals with various companies from 2002 to 2006. Wayne consistently exceeded annual sales goals and received commendations for his acumen. In June 2004 he and business partners Mark Anthony Jones, Walter Dawit Washington and Jon Byrd conceptualized and founded Stress Free Fridays, a series of happy hour events held at various hot spots in and around St. Louis. It was at one of these social gatherings in the fall of 2004 that he met Ray Hill, who would soon become his business partner in Hill Brewing Co. In 2006 Wayne introduced Ray Hills American Pilsner to beer giant Anheuser-Busch, and shortly after the first partnership between Anheuser-Busch and an African-American owned beer company was signed. Wayne is a proud native of East St. Louis, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He is a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., The Urban League Young Professionals and FOCUS St. Louis/ Bridges Across Racial Polarization.
